"la Caixa" is an institution committed to people's needs

Since it first appeared over one hundred years ago, through its Social Welfare section “la Caixa” has given society back a large part of the profits it makes in the year from its financial activity.

Attending the main social problems; training for all kinds of groups; care and preservation of the environment; and, dissemination of culture: these are the four broad fields of action in which the “la Caixa” social welfare works.

The institution is devoting 500 million euros to this work in 2008, a figure which amounts to 25% of its profits and shows “la Caixa”’s commitment to people.
